Training Approach

Motivation is part of a trainers job and it has to be sincere!  Always imaking sure my client's see and feel their progress is a requirement.  I encourage my clients to buy the jeans or bathing suit they want to wear in their goal size.  Hang it up in their home where they will see it every day!

The responsibility of a Personal Trainer also doesn't begin or end with counting reps.  A great trainer gets to know their clients not just personably, but their likes and dislikes when it comes to modes of training, foods, lifestyle, etc.  Communication between client and trainer is critical to success.  I often substitute counting reps during a progressing session and instead use what is called perceived rate of exertion.  This is done by watching my client, their facial expression, facial reddness, breathing and even sometimes moaning (yes moaning...it happens!) This tells me when they have reached a point of exhaustion, which is necessary for progression... but I must know my client.  I also use a rating system of the burn on the muscle.  My clients know when they get to 10 (the highest on the scale) they do five more reps.  Some clients do not like certain exercises for whatever reasons.  For example, if mountain climbers are not enjoyable for a client, they will not preform them to their best ability.  I substitue comparable exercise if this happens.  I develop relationships with my clients period.  Afterall, you are trusting me to guide you to a goal that means so much for your future.
