Training Approach

A Personal Trainer, an Educator, a Coach for over 25 years, Jean-Luc is also an Experienced Martial Artist and has multiple high-ranking black belts in several arts: 7^th Dan Judo-Jujitsu (Self-defense), 8^th Dan Aikibudojujitsu, 5^th Dan Kobudo, 4^th Dan Shotokan and Shito-Ryu, 2^nd Dan Kendo. He has been the Senior Instructor at the Tohkon Judo Academy in Chicago where he has coached for the last 10 years. The Academy has grown from fifteen students to more than 200, and they have won more than 300 medals in national and international competition.

Jean-Luc has an Education Doctorate, Major in Sports Rehabilitation, a Master of Arts in Pedagogy, and an Education Specialist Degree in Physical Education. He also is Certified Personal Trainer (NCSF), Certified Olympic Weight Lifting Trainer (HA.CU.ME.SE), a Martial Art Strength and Conditioning Trainer (Diploma of Expertise) and Certified CPR/First Aid. 

 

About Jean-Luc

Jean-Luc Moreau was born in France and as a child contracted a disability, poliomyelitis. The doctors thought he would never walk again and condemned him to a wheelchair. He went on to become a national athlete in various track and field events, Olympic weight lifting, swimming, volleyball and an international and Olympic athlete in judo.

Jean-Luc came to the United States and taught courses in French at the University of Arkansas for six years before moving to the Chicago area. He has created and developed sports programs and complete physical education curriculums for schools (grades K-12) and sports performance centers. In partnership with a chiropractor, he co-developed a pre-conditioning program for high school sports teams.
